  • Day’s End

    End of the day’s grind,
    cool water relief .
Ache of muscle, knuckle and steel toed foot
    carries a bent spine walk.
Tired knowing eyes stare down on the sweat dusted shirt that covers sunburned neck and arms
Thinking of the day’s earned pay and sandwich reward
    and rest.
    Calm, quiet …… rest.

  • sounds like a working man’s poem. the calm quiet is poetic, too :)

  • I can relate, split three loads of red elm firewood for my niece and hauled it up to her house. I will sleep peaceful tonight.

  • I’ve seen this man before…

  • @Bels_Kaylar - Yes, a picture of hard work.

@Billy_Austin714 - Three loads of wood, you surely had that bent spine walk when you were done.

@murisopsis -  There are so many hard working people out there.

  • After shelving books at the library, my hands are filthy!  After being a receptionist at a hair salon all day, I want quiet!  Love this poetic tribute to the working man John!

  • @heart_beep - Hi Jill! So glad you liked this, Whether it is physical, dirty or having to put up with commotion, it’s all hard work. The working guy and gal ends the day very exhausted. Frankly I don’t see the laziness that you hear others talk about. At the risk of sounding corny, I just see hard working Americans out there busting their butts all day.
