Nice words for a harsh situation.
He cut himself in front of she and their two teenage sons because of something I had said. She told me it took hours to clean up all of the blood. I still am ashamed of this.

Oh I read it in the figurative sense totally. I recalled that specific event and thought to myself, “Wow! How ironic, that fits literally also.”
